This panoramic oil painting captures a minimalist and atmospheric scene of two sheep standing on a rugged, rocky ridge.
A large sheep with white wool and a black face stands alongside a smaller lamb with similar black markings. Both figures are positioned against a vast, expansive sky.
The work features expressive, textured brushstrokes, particularly in the foreground rocks, where hints of gold or bronze metallic paint add depth and contrast to the dark tones. The composition is dominated by a moody, monochromatic palette of greys, whites, and blacks, creating a sense of quiet solitude and a cool, overcast atmosphere.
The wide, horizontal format emphasizes the openness of the landscape, making the small figures of the sheep appear resilient against the stark, simple background.
Overall, the piece evokes the quiet, rugged beauty of a highland or moorland environment through a contemporary and minimalist lens.
